What is February birthstone?

The birthstone for February is the magnificent Amethyst, a variety of quartz, characterized by its long kaleidoscopic crystals. It can be anywhere from violet or purple. And it fades in color with exposure to sunlight, making this gemstone less durable compared to others.

For centuries, Amethyst was surrounded by many legends from different countries. For instance, ancient Greeks and Romans were known to carry the Amethyst to protect themselves from the consequences of alcoholism.

And that’s how the stone got its name. It comes from amethystos, a Greek word meaning “sober.” And for many centuries, only royalty was allowed to wear this gem.

And now to the best part – the properties of this birthstone. Amethyst is believed to make its wearer gentle and agreeable. But also it is said to strengthen relationships and give its owner the courage when needed.

And many healers use it for spiritual purification and clear wearers’ energy of negativity and attachments. A great gift for all lucky Aquarius and Pisces out there.
